Fortera Fortified: 2025 Year in Review
Advancing Low-Carbon Cement Solutions for the Built Environment
Advancing Low-Carbon Cement Solutions for the Built Environment
2025 was the year Fortera demonstrated that low-carbon cement at commercial scale is no longer a future promise—it’s here, proven, and performing in the field. ReAct™ Cement met ASTM C1157 performance requirements, validated through independent third-party testing that confirms its strength, stability, and readiness for deployment. This year saw significant external validation of our technology, including a strategic partnership with Microsoft to accelerate the adoption of ReAct™ cement. From major progress at the ReCarb® plant to milestone ReAct™ placements, 2025 marked Fortera’s transition from groundbreaking innovation to clear industry adoption.
In this Issue:
For the first time, a single cement meets all six ASTM C1157 performance categories simultaneously, a level of versatility typically requiring four separate portland cement formulations. Fortera has certified its ReAct™ low-carbon cement to this standard, with independent testing by Construction Testing Services validating the performance of ReAct™ across the standard’s eight test requirements.
With one formulation covering all six categories, ReAct™ reduces procurement complexity and streamlines mix design, enabling contractors to use a single cement instead of multiple cementitious products for different project requirements.
Microsoft’s strategic investment in Fortera supports construction of our full-scale commercial facility, while Microsoft secures procurement rights for our ReAct™ low-carbon cement for its datacenters and environmental attribute certificates to reduce Scope 3 emissions.
Microsoft’s investment validates our approach: bolt-on technology that integrates with existing cement facilities, delivering 70% lower CO₂ emissions at cost parity. No green premium, no infrastructure disruption—just proven commercial-scale decarbonization.
Our ReCarb® technology works with cement and lime producers to leverage their existing infrastructure, same limestone, same facilities, same distribution. This approach keeps costs down and makes our technology capital efficient and rapidly scalable.
Our bolt-on solution captures CO₂ emissions and converts them into productive feedstock, enabling plants to produce 80% more cement from the same amount of limestone, extending quarry life while cutting emissions by 70%.
Withstanding high traffic and extreme weather conditions as well as maintaining aesthetic appeal.
Preserving finish quality while also advancing corporate sustainability targets.
Demonstrating low-carbon solutions in institutional infrastructure.
Featuring ReAct™ in structural applications, underscoring real-world scalability and community impact.
