Fortera Fortified: 2025 Year in Review

Advancing Low-Carbon Cement Solutions for the Built Environment

Fortera Fortified 2025 Year in Review

2025 was the year Fortera demonstrated that low-carbon cement at commercial scale is no longer a future promise—it’s here, proven, and performing in the field. ReAct™ Cement met ASTM C1157 performance requirements, validated through independent third-party testing that confirms its strength, stability, and readiness for deployment. This year saw significant external validation of our technology, including a strategic partnership with Microsoft to accelerate the adoption of ReAct™ cement. From major progress at the ReCarb® plant to milestone ReAct™ placements, 2025 marked Fortera’s transition from groundbreaking innovation to clear industry adoption.

Fortera’s ReAct™
NEW:

Fortera’s ReAct™ Becomes First Low-Carbon Cement to Meet All Six ASTM C1157 Categories

For the first time, a single cement meets all six ASTM C1157 performance categories simultaneously, a level of versatility typically requiring four separate portland cement formulations. Fortera has certified its ReAct™ low-carbon cement to this standard, with independent testing by Construction Testing Services validating the performance of ReAct™ across the standard’s eight test requirements.

With one formulation covering all six categories, ReAct™ reduces procurement complexity and streamlines mix design, enabling contractors to use a single cement instead of multiple cementitious products for different project requirements.

Microsoft’s investment in Fortera

Microsoft Partnership

Microsoft’s strategic investment in Fortera supports construction of our full-scale commercial facility, while Microsoft secures procurement rights for our ReAct™ low-carbon cement for its datacenters and environmental attribute certificates to reduce Scope 3 emissions.

Microsoft’s investment validates our approach: bolt-on technology that integrates with existing cement facilities, delivering 70% lower CO₂ emissions at cost parity. No green premium, no infrastructure disruption—just proven commercial-scale decarbonization.

Fortera’s Economic Advantage

Our ReCarb® technology works with cement and lime producers to leverage their existing infrastructure, same limestone, same facilities, same distribution. This approach keeps costs down and makes our technology capital efficient and rapidly scalable.

Our bolt-on solution captures CO₂ emissions and converts them into productive feedstock, enabling plants to produce 80% more cement from the same amount of limestone, extending quarry life while cutting emissions by 70%.

What Our Concrete Partners Say

“In my experience I can say that the concrete mix with ReAct™ material cleared out 200 linear feet of hose without delay, as with regular concrete mix there is an 80% chance we have an issue … NO DRY PACK as a pump operator this makes our job a lot easier. The product looks amazing when it’s all finished and cured.”

Alfred CisnerosOwner, Freddy’s Concrete Pumping

“The concrete with ReAct™ finished more easily. There was noticeably less cracking in the mix with Fortera compared to without. The consistency in color and surface would make me excited to use ReAct™ in decorative or architectural concrete.”

Luis MaciasOwner, LCM Concrete Construction Company

“The 56-day results from the UC Berkeley Substation #8 are impressive and speak to the strength of Fortera’s ReAct™ product. It performed as promised, and we’re encouraged by what this means for future applications.”

David Bischoff, P.E.Senior Project Manager, Webcor Concrete Group

“The fresh-state properties of the concrete containing 12% Fortera ReAct™ Blend demonstrated impressive workability, was easy to both place and finish and performed very well at the Berkeley Substation 8 Project. It looks excellent in its hardened, finished state too, having a very light albedo.”

Eric PetersonDirector, Webcor Concrete Group

“The footing concrete poured just like our traditional mix designs. For slab-on-grade, placement and finishing were very similar to mixes containing fly ash. Saw cut control joints held an edge better than typical fly ash mixes, and we’ve observed no abnormal cracking to date.”

Brian KamiskyPresident, SK Construction / Wards Concrete

“It was great working on the Simpson University project with the crew from Fortera and I look forward to the next project. With concrete being the most widely used construction material in the world, I believe Fortera is moving our industry in the right direction.”
